Working at Gwalia
We are a leading housing, care and support in Wales because of our caring and dedicated teams. To support staff to deliver exceptional services we offer flexible working arrangements, generous holiday leave, training, occupational health, staff discounts and gym membership as well as membership to the Social Housing Pension Scheme.
We operate a flexible working policy to allow our employees flexibility around their core working hours. Our special leave policy also allows time off to support employees with obligations or unexpected circumstances outside of their working life for example, attending medical appointments and dealing with domestic emergencies.
Starting at 25 days a year from your start date, holidays rise by one day each year up to 30 days (plus Bank Holidays).
Training and career development
Learning and development are a high priority. All staff have regular one-to-ones and an annual performance review as part of their personal development. We also support professional qualifications in subjects relevant to job roles and career paths, including NVQ’s, MBA’s and management training.
Health and Wellbeing
We offer a wide range of services to support our employee health and wellbeing, including occupational health services, confidential telephone or face-to-face counselling, occupational sick pay, Osteopathy services, VDU eye tests, health screening and vaccination programmes (where role appropriate).
The Staff Association promotes sports and social events for our employees. Members benefit from discounted tickets to the cinema, theatre and other organised events.
Maternity and Paternity pay
We offer enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay after a qualifying period.
Our employees can also benefit from the Childcare Vouchers scheme. We can pay our staff up to £243 per month from their salaries in Childcare Vouchers before Tax and National Insurance contributions.
We have teamed up with First Cymru to offer a travel plan to our staff that enables them to purchase an annual bus pass. Payment is taken from staff salaries before Tax and National Insurance contributions. Free parking and cycle racks are available at various sites (depending on location).
We subscribe to Payroll Giving, providing an easy and tax-efficient way for our employees to give to their favourite charities.
Discounted gym membership
We offers discounted gym memberships at many council operated gyms right across Wales.
Our staff can also enjoy a number of discounts for various products. You can also benefit from a 10% discount on breakfast and lunch at Tapestri Café in Swansea.
Social Housing Pension Scheme
Run by The Pensions Trust, this is a contributory pension scheme which provides a range of benefits at a time when people need to make provision for an income in retirement.
