Electrical safety in Your Home

Every electrical installation deteriorates with use and time.

To keep safe at home:

  • Do not tamper with the fuse or circuit boards.
  • Use the correct fuse for each appliance.
  • Do not overload sockets.
  • Keep electrical items away from water.

Your home electrical installation is periodically inspected. We will contact you when your electrical safety test is due.

How long will the test take?

The test usually takes between 2 to 3 hours. The engineer will check the electrical wiring in a building and includes distribution boards, lighting, socket.

What do I need to do?

All you need to do is to allow our electrical engineers into your home when your tests is due. We will contact you with an appointment date and time, giving at least 7 days’ notice to carry out the test.

Missed appointments

Missed appointments take up engineer time that could be spent on carrying out vital repairs. They also reduce our maintenance budget, and redirects funds away from our planned improvement programmes.

If you miss two electrical installation appointments, you will be charged £50.
